• They contacted YOU: out-of-the-blue Facebook/WhatsApp messages offering foreign jobs are nearly always scams.
• Paying for the lottery: the US Diversity Visa lottery is free at dvprogram.state.gov. Anyone charging to "enter" you is a thief.
• "We have inside contacts at the embassy": embassies don't have agents. Full stop.
• Documents via Photoshop: blurry offer letters, no company registration number, Gmail addresses for "government" correspondence.
• Visit visa for a "job": "fly on visit visa, we'll convert it" = illegal work, fines, deportation.
• They discourage verification: "don't call the company, you'll spoil the deal" — the surest sign of all.

2. The 10-minute verification routine (do this EVERY time)

1. Verify the employer exists: find the company's real website and phone number yourself (Google, not the agent's letterhead). Call and ask: "Did you offer this job to [your name]?"
2. Verify the agent's licence: Pakistan — Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment (beoe.gov.pk), licensed Overseas Employment Promoters list. India — eMigrate portal (emigrate.gov.in), registered recruiting agents list.
3. Verify the visa route: check the country's official immigration site (canada.ca, gov.uk, uscis.gov, homeaffairs.gov.au) — does this visa type even exist? Do you meet the published criteria?
4. Verify the sponsor: UK — register of licensed sponsors on gov.uk. Australia/Canada — the employer must be real and eligible; confirm directly.
5. Get everything in writing with the agent's full name, CNIC/ID, office address and licence number — and a proper receipt for every rupee.

3. Safe payment rules

• Never pay the full amount upfront. Staged payments tied to verifiable milestones (e.g. after visa grant) only.
• Pay by bank transfer to the company's account — never cash, never crypto, never to a personal Easypaisa/JazzCash number.
• Keep every receipt, chat screenshot and the agent's ID copy. If things go wrong, this is your evidence.
• Remember who legally pays: in the Gulf, the employer pays for work permits and residence visas — not you.

4. Already scammed? Do this now

1. Stop all payments immediately — don't pay "one more fee to fix it". That's the follow-up scam.
2. Save everything: chats, receipts, the agent's number, photos, ID copies.
